To further expand our knowledge of the shield of faith, let's discuss Hebrews 11:1 which says, "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."
Faith involves a confident expectation and trust in the promises of God. It's not merely wishful thinking; it's a firm belief that what God has promised will come to pass.
The conviction of things not seen means believing in realities that are not visible to the physical eye. This includes spiritual truths, the existence of God, and His ongoing work in the world. It’s a conviction that these unseen things are real and true.
Faith calls believers to trust in God's promises, even when circumstances make them seem unlikely or impossible. This kind of faith shapes how believers live, influencing their decisions, actions, and perspectives based on their trust in God's word and His character.
Faith, according to this verse, is the foundation of a believer’s relationship with God, providing both a hope for the future and a conviction about the unseen spiritual realities.
Father, help us to trust you even when we can't see the outcome. Help us to rely on your character and promises more than the temptations and trials in this world. Thank you that you are faithful in return, and we can trust with all things, we believe that you can do the impossible. Amen.
