Shoes of Peace - Armor of God Series - Ephesians 6:15 Bible Study

Next up in our Armor of God series are "shoes of Peace." Ephesians 6:15 says, "and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace." This verse emphasizes the importance of being prepared to spread the message of peace brought by the gospel. It's about having a solid foundation and being ready to move forward with this mission of sharing God's peace with others.

In this time the Roman soldiers had protective shoes. No one could fight effectively without them. Think about when you walk barefoot, you may do this at home or in a place where you know there is low likelihood of stepping on something painful or getting your foot crushed, but out in the world you wear shoes to protect your feet. Think of times where someone has broken their foot or ankle, they're very vulnerable and at the mercy of others around them.

The gospel provides the footing for everything we do. David Guzik says, "However powerful the rest of your body is, if you are wounded in your feet you are easy prey for the enemy." You need to have a good grip on the gospel. You need to have shoes for the long journey of possibly rocky terrain.

Father, may we put on the shoes of peace so that we are ready to spread the message of peace which is the gospel. May we have a good grip on it, prepared for whatever terrain we may come across. Amen.
